How to use Chart Maker

  1. Choose a Chart type: bar, line, pie, doughnut, radar or polarArea.
  2. Enter a Title, a Main colour and a Series name.
  3. Type Labels and Values as comma-separated lists in matching order.
  4. Watch the preview update, then click Download PNG.

How the chart is drawn

Charts are drawn with the Chart.js library and redraw a moment after you stop typing. Bar, line and radar charts use your main colour; pie, doughnut and polar area charts give each slice its own evenly spaced hue automatically. The PNG is saved on a white background so it looks right in documents.

Visuals strengthen answers on topics such as GDP growth, sectoral shares or rainfall trends. Quickly plotting figures from the Economic Survey or a newspaper table also helps you remember the pattern, not just the numbers.

Limitations

  • Only one data series is supported, so you cannot compare two lines or grouped bars.
  • Values must be plain numbers; text, commas inside numbers or percentage signs give gaps.
  • The PNG size follows the preview's size on your screen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write 1,250 as a value?

Type it as 1250. Commas separate values, so a comma inside a number splits it in two.

Can I remove the title?

Yes. Clear the Title box and the chart is drawn without one.

Which chart type should I use for shares of a total?

Pie or doughnut. For change over time use line, and for comparing categories use bar.
