How the placeholder text is built
The generator picks words at random from the vocabulary of the standard lorem ipsum passage. Sentences are 8 to 17 words long with a capital letter and a full stop, and paragraphs hold 4 to 7 sentences, so every click gives a fresh but natural-looking block of text.
Designers use dummy text so that readers judge the layout rather than the wording. It is handy when building a newsletter template, a website section, a presentation slide or a print notice before the real content is ready.
Limitations
- The text is scrambled Latin-like words, not a faithful copy of the original Cicero passage.
- Only lorem ipsum is offered; there is no Hindi or English dummy text option.
- No HTML tags are added, so paragraph markup must be added yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the text change every time?
Words are chosen randomly on each click. Generate again until a block looks right, or copy the one you have.
How do I get exactly 50 words?
Set How many to 50 and choose Words. With the Lorem ipsum opening ticked, five extra words are added in front, so untick it for an exact count.
Where does lorem ipsum come from?
It is derived from a passage of Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, scrambled and used as typesetting filler since at least the 1960s.
