How to use HEIC to JPG Converter

- Set the Quality slider; 90 is the starting value.
- Leave Background for transparent areas as white unless you have a reason to change it.
- Press Convert to JPG, then save each photo or the ZIP.
Why iPhone photos need converting
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, a format based on HEVC compression that keeps quality high at small sizes. Windows, many websites and older Android phones still struggle to open it. This tool decodes HEIC in the page using the heic2any library, then encodes a standard JPEG at the quality you choose.
It is especially handy when filling exam or job application forms from an iPhone, since those portals generally accept JPG or JPEG for photographs and signatures. After converting, check the file size on the download button; if the portal sets a KB range or exact dimensions, use the compressor or resizer next. Camera metadata such as location is not carried into the JPG.
Limitations
- Decoding HEIC in JavaScript is slower than native apps; large batches take time on phones.
- If a HEIC holds several images, such as a burst, only the first is converted.
- Some newer or unusual HEIC variants may fail to decode.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fix this on the iPhone itself?
Yes, setting Camera > Formats to Most Compatible makes future photos JPG. This tool handles the HEIC files you already have.
Is the JPG good enough for an exam photo upload?
At quality 85 to 90 it looks virtually identical to the original. Check the portal's size and dimension rules separately.
Does the location data stay in the photo?
No. The image is redrawn before saving, so GPS and other EXIF details are not copied.
Are my photos uploaded to convert them?
No. The HEIC decoder runs in your browser and the photos never leave your phone or computer.
