PNG to JPG Converter

Changes PNG files into JPG so they open everywhere and take less space. Because JPG cannot store transparency, you choose the colour that fills any see-through areas before converting.

How to use PNG to JPG Converter

  1. Tap Choose files or drop them here and add one or more .png files.
  2. Set the Quality slider; it starts at 90, which suits most photos and scans.
  3. Pick a colour under Background for transparent areas (white by default).
  4. Press Convert to JPG, then save each file or use Download all (ZIP).

Why move from PNG to JPG

PNG is lossless and keeps an alpha channel, which is great for logos and screenshots but heavy for photographs. JPG throws away fine detail the eye rarely notices, so a scanned certificate or phone photo saved as PNG often shrinks to a fraction of its size once re-encoded. The tool draws each image onto a canvas, paints your chosen background underneath, and encodes the result with the browser's own JPEG encoder.

This matters most when a form only accepts JPG or JPEG. Many recruitment and exam portals ask for the photograph and signature in that format, so converting a PNG crop is usually the first step. If the portal also sets a size range in KB, run the output through the image compressor or resizer afterwards; this page changes format and quality, not pixel dimensions.

Limitations

  • Transparency is lost by design: every see-through pixel is filled with the background colour.
  • Sharp text and flat colours can show faint JPEG ringing at low quality settings; stay above about 80 for screenshots.
  • Only files ending in .png are accepted here; other types are skipped with a message.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my transparent logo get a white box?

JPG has no alpha channel, so the empty area must be filled with something. Change the Background for transparent areas picker to match the page the logo will sit on, or keep the PNG if you need real transparency.

Which quality value should I use?

90 is the default and is visually close to the original for photos. For screenshots full of text, 85 to 95 avoids blurry edges; drop lower only when file size matters more than crispness.

Does it change the image size in pixels?

No. Width and height stay exactly as in the PNG. Use the resize tool if a form needs specific dimensions.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The conversion happens inside your browser tab, so your PNG files stay on your own device.
