Re-saves JPG and JPEG photos as PNG, a lossless format, so later edits, crops and annotations stop adding fresh compression artefacts. There are no settings to tune: PNG has no quality level.

How to use JPG to PNG Converter

  1. Add .jpg or .jpeg files with Choose files or drop them here.
  2. Check the file list; remove any you added by mistake with the cross button.
  3. Click Convert to PNG.
  4. Download each PNG, or grab them together with Download all (ZIP).

What JPG to PNG can and cannot do

Every time a JPG is edited and saved again, the encoder discards a little more detail. Converting once to PNG freezes the picture as it is now: from here on, crops, highlights or text overlays are stored without further loss. That makes PNG a sensible working copy for notes, diagrams photographed on a phone, or images you plan to mark up for study material.

What PNG cannot do is undo damage already present. Blocky areas or colour smearing in the original JPG are copied faithfully into the PNG, pixel for pixel. Expect the new file to be noticeably larger, often several times the JPG size for photographs, because lossless compression works poorly on camera noise. The image is not given a transparent background either; a JPG never had one to begin with.

Limitations

  • File size usually grows, sometimes by a large factor, especially for camera photos.
  • Existing JPEG artefacts are preserved, not repaired.
  • Camera EXIF details such as date and GPS are not carried over, because the image is redrawn on a canvas.

Frequently asked questions

Will PNG make my photo look sharper?

No. It stores the JPG's pixels exactly, so it looks identical. The benefit is that future edits will not degrade it further.

Why is the PNG so much bigger than my JPG?

PNG is lossless, and natural photos contain lots of fine noise that lossless compression cannot squeeze much. For sharing, JPG or WebP stays smaller.

Can I get a transparent background this way?

Not directly. The PNG will be fully opaque like the source. Use a background remover first, then save the result as PNG.

Where is the conversion done?

Locally, in your browser. Your JPG files are read and re-encoded on your device and are not uploaded.
