How to use Crop PDF Margins
- Add one or more PDFs.
- Enter Top, Right, Bottom and Left margins in millimetres (10 mm each by default).
- Click Crop PDF.
- Download the -cropped.pdf files and check them in a viewer.
How the crop is applied
The tool converts your millimetre values to PDF points and shrinks each page's visible area, setting both the crop box and media box so viewers and printers show the smaller page. If a page would end up too small, it is skipped and left at its original size rather than being cut to nothing.
Cropping is useful for removing the dark edges of a photocopied scan, tightening the white space around lecture slides so they read better on a phone, or making a page fit a form's required dimensions more closely.
Limitations
- One set of margins applies to all pages; there is no visual cropping box or per-page setting.
- Content outside the crop area is hidden, not deleted, so it still exists inside the file.
- Pages that are already rotated may trim different edges than expected; check the result.
Frequently asked questions
How much is 10 mm?
About the width of a fingernail, or a little under half an inch. A4 paper is 210 by 297 mm, so 10 mm per side is a modest trim.
Will the file size shrink after cropping?
Usually not much, because hidden content stays in the file. Use Compress PDF if size is the goal.
Where is my PDF processed?
Right in your browser. The cropped copy is generated locally and nothing is uploaded.
