How to use Add a Watermark to a PDF
- Upload one or more PDF files.
- Type the Watermark text, for example DRAFT or SAMPLE COPY.
- Adjust Font size, Opacity %, Colour and Angle in degrees (45 gives a diagonal).
- Click Add watermark and download the -watermarked.pdf version.
How the watermark is placed
The text is drawn in Helvetica Bold and centred on each page, rotated around the middle to the angle you set. Opacity controls how strongly it covers the content: around 20 to 30 percent keeps the page readable while making the mark obvious. The watermark sits on top of the existing content as ordinary text, not as an image.
Marking a document as a copy before you share an ID proof, labelling a mock test paper as a sample, or flagging an internal note as confidential are typical uses. It is a visual deterrent rather than a security feature.
Limitations
- Text only; image or logo watermarks are not supported.
- Only Latin characters work because the standard Helvetica Bold font is used.
- A determined user with a PDF editor can remove the watermark, so do not rely on it for protection.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put the watermark horizontally?
Yes. Set Angle to 0 for a flat line across the centre, or 90 for vertical text.
Why is long text running off the page?
The font size is fixed, so a long phrase can be wider than the page. Lower the font size or shorten the text.
Do my files get uploaded to add the watermark?
No. The PDF is edited inside your browser tab and saved directly to your device.
