How to use CSV to Excel Converter
- Drop one or more .csv, .tsv or .txt files into the box.
- Press Convert to Excel.
- Download the .xlsx file for each input, or all of them as a ZIP.
How the CSV becomes a workbook
PapaParse reads the file, guesses the delimiter and treats the first line as column headings. Blank lines are skipped. Values that look like numbers are stored as numbers and TRUE/FALSE as booleans, then SheetJS writes a single sheet named after the file (trimmed to Excel's 31-character limit).
This helps when a bank statement, exam result list or exported report opens in Excel as one jumbled column, or when you want a real workbook to share instead of a text file. Each CSV produces its own workbook; files are not merged into one.
Limitations
- Leading zeros are kept: values such as roll numbers or PIN codes starting with 0 are stored as text cells, while other plain numbers become real numbers.
- UTF-8 (with or without BOM) and UTF-16 files, including Hindi, are read correctly; very old ANSI files are read as Windows-1252, which cannot hold Hindi.
- There is no formatting, column width or formula support; it is a plain data sheet.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with semicolon-separated CSVs from European software?
Yes. The parser detects comma, semicolon, tab and pipe automatically.
Why did my code 00123 become 123?
Number-like values are stored as numbers. Keep such columns as text by opening the original CSV through Excel's Data > From Text/CSV import instead.
Can I combine several CSVs into one workbook?
Not here. Each CSV becomes a separate .xlsx, available together in a ZIP.
Where is the conversion done?
In your browser; the spreadsheet libraries run locally, so the data is not uploaded.
