Excel to CSV Converter
Export spreadsheet data from .xlsx, .xls or .ods files to plain comma-separated text. Workbooks with several sheets give one CSV per sheet, so nothing is silently left behind.

How to use Excel to CSV Converter
- Choose one or more Excel or OpenDocument spreadsheets.
- Click Convert to CSV.
- For a single-sheet file, review the text in the result box, copy it or download it.
- For multi-sheet workbooks, download each sheet's CSV (named file-SheetName.csv) or the ZIP.
What gets exported
SheetJS reads every sheet and uses its first row as the header line. Cells hold their stored values, so formulas are exported as their last calculated results. Empty cells are written as blanks, completely empty rows are dropped, and PapaParse writes the output with commas and quoting where a value contains a comma or line break.
CSV is the format most portals, databases and mail-merge tools import. Use it to upload a candidate list, move data into Google Sheets, or feed a script. Formatting, colours, merged cells and charts are not part of CSV and are lost.
Limitations
- Date cells are written as calendar dates (YYYY-MM-DD, plus hh:mm when the cell holds a time) straight from the stored value, so no date moves to the previous day because of your time zone.
- A column with no heading gets a placeholder name such as __EMPTY.
- Password-protected workbooks cannot be opened.
Frequently asked questions
Are hidden sheets exported?
Yes. Every sheet in the workbook is read, including hidden ones, and each becomes its own CSV.
Why do my dates look different?
Excel stores dates as serial numbers. The tool turns each date cell into YYYY-MM-DD (with hh:mm for date-times) from that number, so there is no time-zone shift, but a display format such as dd-mm-yyyy is not kept.
Can I edit the CSV before saving?
For a single result, yes. It appears in an editable text box with Copy and Download buttons.
Do my spreadsheets get uploaded?
No, they are parsed inside your browser and remain on your device.
