How to use XML to CSV Converter
- Add one or more .xml files.
- Click Convert to CSV.
- Check the table text in the result box, then copy it or download the .csv file.
Finding the rows in your XML
Starting at the root, the converter walks down through any single wrapper elements (such as a catalog element holding a single books element) until it reaches a level with several children. Each of those children becomes one row. Nested child elements turn into columns named with dots, like author.name, and attributes appear as columns prefixed with @.
This works well for product feeds, bank or GST exports, RSS items and many open-data files, letting you analyse them in Excel or Google Sheets.
Limitations
- Columns are taken from the first record; fields present only in later records are omitted.
- If records sit beside other unrelated elements at the same level, those elements also become rows.
- Repeated child elements inside a record are packed into a single cell as JSON text.
Frequently asked questions
How does it decide what a row is?
It descends through single-child wrappers until it finds a level with more than one element, then treats each of those as a record.
Why is a column missing?
Headings come from the first record. If that record lacks a field, move a complete record to the top or use XML to Excel, which collects every field.
Are attributes included?
Yes, as columns whose names start with @.
Is the file processed on a server?
No. Your browser parses and converts it locally.
