Convert TIFF to PDF

Scanners and fax software often save TIFF files that are large and awkward to share. This converts them into a lighter PDF that opens anywhere.

How to use Convert TIFF to PDF

  1. Add one or more .tif or .tiff files.
  2. Order them with the arrow buttons if you have several.
  3. Choose Page size, Orientation and Margin.
  4. Lower Image quality for a smaller PDF, then click Create PDF.

Decoding TIFF in the browser

Browsers cannot display TIFF natively, so the tool uses the UTIF library to decode the image data into pixels, then embeds it in the PDF as a JPEG. Because uncompressed TIFF scans are huge, the JPEG step usually cuts the size by a large margin.

Office scanners in banks, courts and colleges commonly default to TIFF. Converting to PDF makes a scanned affidavit or service record easy to email and accepted by most upload forms.

Limitations

  • Only the first page of a multi-page TIFF is converted; split multi-page files first.
  • Unusual TIFF variants, such as some CMYK or 16-bit files, may fail to decode.
  • JPEG compression is lossy, so archival-grade fidelity is not kept.

Frequently asked questions

My TIFF has five pages but the PDF shows one. Why?

The decoder reads only the first image in the file. Export each page as its own TIFF from your scanner software and add them all.

Is .tif the same as .tiff?

Yes. Both extensions are accepted.

Are scanned documents kept private?

Yes. Decoding and PDF creation happen locally in your browser tab.
