How to use Unzip Files Online
- Choose or drop a single .zip file.
- Click Open ZIP.
- Download individual files using the buttons that appear, each showing its size.
- Alternatively, use Download all (ZIP) to save everything again in one bundle.
Inside the extraction
JSZip reads the archive's directory and decompresses each entry in memory. Folder entries are skipped and every file is listed by its own name, without the folder path. Standard DEFLATE and stored (uncompressed) ZIPs, the kind created by Windows, macOS and most apps, open normally.
This is convenient when a study-material pack, admit-card bundle or set of office documents arrives as a ZIP on a phone or a locked-down computer and you need just one or two files from it.
Limitations
- Password-protected or encrypted ZIPs, and formats like RAR or 7z, are not supported.
- Folder structure is flattened; files with the same name in different folders will appear twice with the same name.
- Very large archives must fit in browser memory.
Frequently asked questions
Can it open RAR or 7z files?
No. Only .zip archives are accepted.
Why don't I see my folders?
The tool lists files only and drops their folder paths, so everything appears in one flat list.
What if the ZIP has a password?
Encrypted archives cannot be read; extract them with desktop software that supports the password.
Is the archive uploaded?
No. It is opened by script running in this tab, so its contents stay on your device.
