How to use AVIF to JPG Converter

  1. Add .avif files with the upload area.
  2. Set Quality; 90 gives near-identical results.
  3. Choose Background for transparent areas if the AVIF has transparency.
  4. Click Convert to JPG and download.

Making AVIF images usable everywhere

AVIF is increasingly what you get when saving images from modern websites, yet plenty of software, older phones and online forms still reject it. JPG remains universally accepted. This tool asks your browser to decode the AVIF, flattens any transparency over your chosen colour, and saves a JPEG at the quality you set.

Decoding relies on built-in browser support, available in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari; very old browsers will report that the format could not be read. If you saved an AVIF photo for an application form that wants JPG or JPEG, convert it here and then check the portal's size limits with the compressor if needed.

Limitations

  • Requires a browser that can decode AVIF; outdated browsers show an error.
  • Transparent areas become the chosen background colour.
  • Animated AVIF files yield a single frame.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I get 'could not be read by your browser'?

Your browser lacks AVIF decoding. Update it, or try a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

Will the JPG be larger than the AVIF?

Usually yes, as JPG compresses less efficiently. Lower the quality slider if size matters.

What happens to transparency?

JPG has none, so it is replaced by the background colour you pick, white by default.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The AVIF is decoded and converted inside your browser.
