How to use HEIC to PNG Converter

  1. Select .heic or .heif files from your phone or computer.
  2. No quality setting is needed for PNG.
  3. Click Convert to PNG and wait while the HEIC decoder loads.
  4. Download the PNGs individually or as a ZIP.

When PNG is the better HEIC target

JPG is the usual destination for iPhone photos, but each JPEG save throws away detail. If you plan to crop, annotate or composite the image, a PNG keeps the decoded pixels exactly so later edits start from a clean base. The tool uses the heic2any library to decode the HEIC inside the page and then writes a standard PNG.

The cost is size: a 12-megapixel photo can easily become tens of megabytes as PNG. That is fine for editing on a computer, less so for sharing or uploading. For screenshots and graphics captured on an iPhone, PNG also avoids the fuzzy text that JPEG compression can introduce.

Limitations

  • PNG files from camera photos are very large.
  • Multi-image HEIC files, such as bursts, export only the first image.
  • Browser decoding is slower than built-in phone apps, particularly for big batches.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose PNG or JPG for my iPhone photos?

JPG for sharing and uploading; PNG when you plan further editing and want no extra compression.

Why is the PNG so large?

PNG is lossless and camera photos have lots of fine detail, so the file grows well beyond the HEIC size.

Will Live Photos keep their motion?

No. You get a still PNG; the motion part is not part of this conversion.

Is the conversion private?

Yes. Decoding happens in your browser, so the HEIC files are not sent anywhere.
