How to use JPG to TIFF Converter

  1. Add your .jpg or .jpeg photos to the upload area.
  2. There are no options; TIFF output is uncompressed.
  3. Press Convert to TIFF.
  4. Download the .tiff files (no preview is shown for TIFF).

Why anyone converts JPG to TIFF

Some print vendors, publishing workflows and document management systems still list TIFF as the required format, even when the photo started life as a JPG. This tool decodes the JPG and writes the raw pixels into a TIFF file using the UTIF library, without any further compression. That avoids adding a second layer of loss, but it makes the file far bigger than the original.

Be clear about what TIFF does not do: it cannot restore detail the JPG already discarded, and it does not raise resolution or DPI. If a printer wants 300 DPI at a certain size, the pixel dimensions must already be large enough. Treat this as a format wrapper for compatibility, not a quality upgrade.

Limitations

  • Output TIFFs are uncompressed and can be many times larger than the JPG.
  • No preview appears after conversion, because browsers cannot display TIFF.
  • No DPI, colour profile or CMYK conversion is offered.

Frequently asked questions

Will TIFF improve my photo's quality?

No. It stores the same pixels as the JPG, just without further compression.

Why is the TIFF file so big?

This tool writes uncompressed TIFF. Every pixel takes four bytes, so a 12-megapixel photo can approach 48 MB.

Can I set 300 DPI or CMYK?

No. Those print settings are not part of this converter; ask your printer whether RGB is acceptable.

Do my photos leave my device?

No. The TIFF is built in your browser and saved straight to your downloads.
