Trim Audio Online
Keep only the part of a recording you need by typing start and end times or setting them while you listen. A fast mode copies the audio without re-encoding, so the clip keeps its original quality.

How to use Trim Audio Online
- Add one audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, Opus or WMA); the End box fills in with its full length.
- Play it in the preview and press Set start = current and Set end = current at the right moments, or type times as seconds or hh:mm:ss.
- Leave Fast mode ticked for an instant lossless cut, or untick it to re-encode for a more precise edge.
- Click Trim and download the file saved with -trimmed in its name, in the same format as the original.
Fast cut or re-encode?
In fast mode FFmpeg seeks to the start time and stream-copies (-c copy) up to the end, so nothing is decoded and quality is untouched. Compressed formats are stored in frames, so the cut lands on the nearest frame boundary, typically within a few hundredths of a second for MP3.
With fast mode off the clip is re-encoded in the source format: MP3 at LAME VBR quality 2, M4A or AAC at 192 kbps, OGG at Vorbis quality 5, while WAV and FLAC remain lossless. Typical uses include clipping a single answer out of a recorded mock interview or preparing a short section for a ringtone.
Limitations
- One file at a time; there is no waveform display, only the player and time boxes.
- Re-encode mode is set up for MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC; Opus, WMA and other formats outside that list are saved as MP3 when re-encoded.
- Only a single continuous section can be kept; cutting out a middle portion needs two trims.
Frequently asked questions
What time formats can I type?
Plain seconds such as 75.5, minutes and seconds like 1:15, or hours, minutes and seconds like 0:01:15.
Why does my clip start a fraction early or late?
Fast mode cuts on audio frame boundaries. Untick Fast mode to re-encode, which follows your times more closely.
Does trimming reduce quality?
Not in fast mode, which copies the original data. Re-encoding a lossy file adds one more generation of compression.
Is the recording uploaded to trim it?
No, the cut is made by FFmpeg inside this browser tab.
