How to use Crop Image
- Choose a single image; it opens inside an interactive crop frame.
- Pick an Aspect ratio: Free, 1:1 Square, 4:3, 16:9, 9:16 Story, 3:2 or 4:5 Instagram.
- Drag the frame and its corner handles until it covers the part you want to keep.
- Set Format to Same as input, PNG, JPG or WEBP, then press Crop & Download.
How the crop is calculated
The cropper works on the full-resolution image even though it shows a scaled-down view on screen, so the saved file keeps the original pixel density inside the area you selected. Locking a ratio keeps the frame proportional as you drag, which is handy when a site expects a square avatar or a widescreen banner.
Students often use it to cut a passport-style head shot out of a group photo, or to trim a scanned signature before resizing it for an exam application. Note that cropping only removes area; to hit an exact pixel size such as 200 × 230, crop to roughly the right shape here and then use a resize tool.
Limitations
- There is no box for typing exact pixel coordinates or dimensions; the frame is positioned by dragging.
- One image at a time; batch cropping is not supported on this page.
- Saving to JPG fills any transparent areas with white.
Frequently asked questions
Can I crop to a specific size like 3.5 × 4.5 cm?
Use the Free ratio to frame the shot, then resize the result to the required pixel dimensions with a separate resize tool. No 3.5:4.5 preset exists here.
Does cropping lower the image quality?
The kept pixels are not resampled. Quality only changes if you save to JPG or WebP, which apply lossy compression.
Can I crop HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF files are decoded in the browser first, then shown in the crop frame.
