Rotate Image

Fix a sideways scan or straighten a tilted photo. Pick a quarter turn or enter any angle, and the canvas grows automatically so no corner of the picture is cut off.

How to use Rotate Image

  1. Add one or more images; the first is previewed below the options.
  2. Choose Angle: 90° right, 180°, 90° left, or Custom.
  3. For Custom, type the degrees and decide between Transparent fill or a Fill colour for the exposed corners.
  4. Press Apply & Download to save the rotated copies.

What happens at odd angles

Quarter and half turns simply swap or reverse the pixel grid, so the result has exactly the same content. At angles such as 5° or 45°, the tool calculates a new bounding box large enough to hold the turned image and leaves triangular gaps in the corners. Those gaps are either transparent or painted with the colour you choose.

Rotating a phone photo of a document by a couple of degrees before printing or uploading makes text lines level and easier to read. Positive custom values turn the image clockwise; use a negative number to go anticlockwise.

Limitations

  • JPG cannot store transparency, so corners of a JPG rotated by a custom angle come out white even with Transparent fill ticked; use a PNG source if you need clear corners.
  • Custom angles resample pixels, which softens the image very slightly.
  • The tool does not auto-detect or crop away the empty corners after a tilt.

Frequently asked questions

Which way does a positive angle turn?

Clockwise. Enter, for example, -3 to rotate three degrees anticlockwise.

Can I rotate several photos the same way?

Yes. Every file you add is rotated with the same setting, though only the first one is previewed.

Why does my rotated JPG have white corners?

JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened to white on save. Convert to PNG first if you want see-through corners.
