Age limits in the notices
| Exam | Age reckoned on | Age limits |
|---|---|---|
| CGL 2026 | 01-08-2026 | 18-27 (born 02-08-1999 to 01-08-2008), 20-30, 18-30, 18-32, by post |
| CHSL 2026 | 01-08-2026 | 18-27 (born 02-08-1999 to 01-08-2008) |
| MTS & Havaldar 2025 | 01-08-2025 | MTS 18-25; Havaldar and some MTS posts 18-27 |
| GD Constable 2026 | 01-01-2026 | 18-23 (born 02-01-2003 to 01-01-2008) |
Relaxation in the upper age limit: SC/ST 5 years; OBC 3 years; PwBD 10, PwBD (OBC) 13 and PwBD (SC/ST) 15 years; ex-servicemen 3 years after deducting military service from actual age; defence personnel disabled in operations 3 years (8 for SC/ST). For Group C posts, Central Government civilian employees with 3 years of regular service may apply up to 40 (45 for SC/ST), and widows, divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried up to 35 (40 for SC/ST). GD 2026 has no PwBD category; it allows 5, 8 or 10 years for children and dependants of 1984 riot victims (UR/EWS, OBC, SC/ST).
Example: an OBC candidate born on 10-05-1997 is 29 on 01-08-2026. That is over 27, but within 27 + 3 = 30, so the candidate is eligible for CHSL 2026.
Limitations
- Relaxations are not added together; the tool applies the single most favourable one, and ex-servicemen are checked separately.
- Educational qualification, nationality, physical standards and certificate deadlines are not checked.
- For CGL, the Group C relaxations (Central Government employees, widows) are applied only to the 18-27 posts, which are the Group C posts in the notice.
- The MTS rules come from the 2025 notice, as the 2026 notice has not been published yet.
