CHSL 2026 marking scheme
| Stage | Questions × marks | Negative marking |
|---|---|---|
| Tier-I: English (Basic), General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic), General Awareness, 25 each | 100 × 2 = 200 | 0.50 |
| Tier-II Section-I: Mathematical Abilities 30, Reasoning 30 | 60 × 3 = 180 | 1 |
| Tier-II Section-II: English 40, General Awareness 20 | 60 × 3 = 180 | 1 |
| Tier-II Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test (qualifying) | 15 × 3 = 45 | 1 |
Worked example: in Tier-II Section-I, 24 correct and 6 wrong in Maths plus 22 correct and 4 wrong in Reasoning give (72 − 6) + (66 − 4) = 128 out of 180.
Every Tier-II section must be qualified separately (para 17.5). The qualifying percentages are 30% (UR), 25% (OBC/EWS) and 20% (others).
Limitations
- The Skill Test for DEOs and the Typing Test for LDC/JSA (Section-IV) are qualifying tests with no marks, so they are not part of this calculator.
- Scores of different shifts are normalised by SSC, and separate cut-offs are fixed for DEO and LDC/JSA posts.
- English in Tier-I is "Basic Knowledge", and Tier-II English has 40 questions; papers of past years may differ.
